Ship dismantling

Ship dismantling is the breakdown of a complex system into subsystems such as assemblies or individual components so that these can be recycled efficiently and ecologically.

Information on ship dismantling

During ship dismantling, old ships that are no longer needed are broken down into their individual parts so that the components – consisting of thousands of tons of steel – can be recycled and reused. All kinds of spare parts – from navigation units, lifeboats through to complete engines – are also dismantled so that they can be recycled ecologically and efficiently.
